“The purpose of the HRMC Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide financial support to individuals who are pursuing a career in a health field while ensuring that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated healthcare staff,” said Timm.
The scholarship program began four years ago with the creation of a single $1,000 nursing scholarship designed to help promote nursing education at the Dakota Wesleyan University-Huron site program, according to Timm.
"The scholarship committee has flexibility to provide varying numbers and amounts of scholarships," said Timm.
Applicants must have completed at least one year of college level coursework in a health-related degree or certification program and have a "C" or better grade point average. Preference will be given to applicants who indicate financial need, and following graduation, that they will seek to be employed or continue their employment in the Huron, South Dakota area.
“The Foundation’s intent with these scholarships is to encourage students to further their education while pursuing a career in a healthcare field,” according to Timm. “We welcome students of all ages to apply and learn more about the lifelong benefits of a future in health care.”
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2010. Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2010. Application forms are available at the Foundation office located in the Huron Towers, 110 Fourth Street, Suite B-8, or online at www.hrmcfoundation.org.
