HRMC's nurturing staff is available for as little or as much assistance with your newborn as you desire. The newborn nursery offers Level I nursery care, which allows your newborn to receive, if needed, IV fluids and antibiotics, phototherapy for jaundice and weight gain monitoring. All medical and nursing staffs are certified in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) to assure your newborn is provided with quality care.
Training and education is available before and after you give birth to your newborn. Prenatal education classes are offered bimonthly and taught by certified childbirth educators. Discussion topics include labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation techniques, pain relief techniques, the role of the support person, feeding methods of the newborn and postpartum experiences. A tour is also available during these classes to familiarize expectant parents with the maternity department.
So family and friends – no matter where they are – can share in the news of your new addition, parents have the option of posting their newborn's photo and information in HRMC's Newborn Nursery. For your convenience, you can also e-mail an announcement with a special message to family and friends with a direct link to your newborn's page.
Our experienced maternity staff delivers approximately 300 babies each year - even babies who have become well known, such as Governor Mike Rounds and Huron Mayor David McGirr.
